Duluth, MN

We drove past Minneapolis today. We neither one wanted to drive around in a busy city we didn’t know. But it looked nice.

It was already 80 degrees when we got up, and we figured it would be cooler after driving north, so we didn’t try to exercise. It did cool down, especially as we got closer to Lake Superior. This is the first time either of us have been to any of the Great Lakes. It’s crazy that they are so big you can’t see across them! As we drove closer we could see fog drifting towards us. By the time we got to the lake it was foggy everywhere.

It was so cold! We had been driving in shorts and sandals. We had to get into our suitcases for warmer clothes. I’m not sure why the fog came when it did, because it drifted away again about an hour later. We walked on a path on the lakeshore. It was really nice.

We saw pigeons nesting in the rock wall.

Most of the buildings are pretty old here in Duluth. We were fascinated to find this roof made from stone!

It’s spring again in Duluth! They even have lilac bushes here! They smell so good!

After the fog blew away I got some nice pictures!

Especially of the lake!

We are planning to drive between Lake Superior and Lake Michigan, and cross on the Mackinac Bridge. Then we will drive south between Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. I’m thrilled with all the trees here! They are so beautiful!

We are still having fun! Talk to you tomorrow!

  1. “The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy.” Gordon Lightfoot started singing in my head as I read this entry ๐Ÿ™‚

    It looks beautiful!

  2. It looks lovely!

You guys are making really good time.

You’re encountering just about every kind of weather you can!

The only great lake i’ve ever been to is Lake Erie but I was little so I don’t remember it. I was born in Ohio , but we moved away when I was 6.

Enjoy the next leg of your journey.
