It’s been a hot one today! It seems that the whole continent is on the warm side. We woke up in Cheboygan this morning, and it was warm and humid. Last night we had walked over to the grocery store to get some things for dinner. We could tell that people don’t walk here too much. There were not many places with sidewalks. When we got back to our hotel we realized why people here don’t walk much. We both had MANY mosquito bites. We had not felt them biting, but once we were inside again we really started itching!
As we were driving to Bay City, about 170 miles, we saw so many things! One was a road named after Sterling!

We had left Cheboygan right after breakfast, because it was too hot and humid to exercise there. When we got to Bay City we first tried to go walking in a mall again. Unfortunately this mall is suffering the same problems those in the west are going through. There just isn’t enough interest from young people. There were almost no stores there, and they couldn’t afford to keep the giant complex air-conditioned. We didn’t walk for very long. We decided to do our laundry while we waited for it to be time to check into our hotel. Of course it was hot at the laundromat, but we got to watch an episode of Maverick! After our clothes were clean, we still had over an hour till check-in time, so we went to a nearby park by the Saginaw River. A wind had started up, and near the river it was pretty comfortable. Here are some pics from our walk.

When we first got out of our car this little guy approached us, sure we had something for him!

There were tons of baby geese in the river!

We also saw many Mallard drakes, but only two or three females, and the only baby ducks we saw were out away from the banks.

The water was shallow, and had Lilly pads. It looked almost like the everglades to us. We also saw some large catfish in the shallows.

There were also several egrets.
At three we were able to check into our hotel, and go swimming! Wow did that cool water feel good!
Tomorrow we are driving to Perrysburg, Ohio. We are leaving Huron and will see Lake Erie!
So glad to hear from you!
