TORREZ TRAVELS

Just a quick note today. We stayed in Cleveland a second day. We really got a chance to experience weather coming in off Lake Erie! We are staying at a hotel in downtown Cleveland and walked around a bit. We also went to the rock and roll hall of fame. Here are some pics of downtown.

I don’t think I’ve ever been in such a big downtown. So many skyscrapers side by side for blocks!

It was really fun. I was so surprised to see this beautiful heron there!

The crazy part was a couple hours later. We came out of one of the buildings and were trying to decide what we wanted to do about dinner. It had been windy all day. We were glad for the wind because the heat and humidity were so high. Suddenly the wind started gusting strongly. We looked up and this giant gray-blue bank of clouds was quickly moving over the city. The light went away and it was suddenly dusk. The temperature dropped almost ten degrees! We knew it was supposed to rain today, but we hadn’t expected this much drama! We changed our mind about eating out and started walking quickly to our hotel. There is a restaurant very close that we had gotten food from yesterday, so we figured we would just go there again. It had started raining a little before we got there, but while we were waiting for our food it really started coming down! We only had to go about twenty yards to our hotel door, but despite our raincoats we both got really wet. The wind was pushing water everywhere! We were inside when the lightning and thunder started. And we were glad!
