Mayberry, NC

We spent the day in Mt Airy again. First we rode our bikes on a local trail. It goes along the banks of the Ararat River. It’s actually a combination of trails that all link up. We got about 18 miles in. The weather was pretty nice, 82 degrees with the humidity at 65%. It still made us sweat, but breathing in didn’t drown us. It was so great to get some exercise in! Sitting in a car is not good for us! Here are a few pics from our ride.

This is a shot of the Ararat River. It looks like a stream to me, but I guess if it flows year round, it’s a river. It is pretty.

We saw some horses,

and a real nice barn with a windmill!

The path was asphalt the whole way, so we were happy.

Here’s the river again.

After the ride we went to the Andy Griffith Museum.

He always seemed like a good dad.

Sterling has always thought having a side car would be cool!

We both got one of these t-shirts!

We walked around Maine Street, and saw an old fashioned police car!

The country around here is beautiful. We saw a couple corn fields.

There are trees like crazy!

One thing, though, There is a vine growing like kudzu here. I tried to find out what it was and it may just be English Ivy. Apparently it was planted decades ago and has now naturalized. In other words, it’s taking over.

I’m a little afraid it’s taking over the whole county, and one morning we will wake up in a scary movie!

So glad to hear from you!
